10 Youtube Channels To Follow As a Junior Web Developer / Designer

10 Youtube Channels To Follow As a Junior Web Developer / Designer

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift of God, which is
why we call it the present. – Bill Keane

As junior web developers and web designers in the industry, one of the biggest challenges faced at times for some and most of the times for others is the question of knowing the right resources to use to learn.

This where youtube comes into play. Youtube is a video sharing service that allow users to create their own profile, upload video content, watch videos and a lot more.

As a beginner, you need to stay sharp and current, learn by seeing live code examples and this is what youtube provides. Not everyone has the stamina to watch or buy a 22 hours course video that may get outdated in a few months time.

That is why I have put together this awesome list of awesome content creators who will help you move your career as a beginner even further.

So, let’s get started in descending order:

10). Dev Ed

From teaching frontend languages and libraries like javascript and react, backend runtime environment like node js, to teaching about design using tools like figma and photoshop.

Dev Ed provides you with web development tools that makes sure you don’t get bored.

You can check out the Dev Ed channel Here

9). Tech Lead

Tech Lead channel does not teach your practical examples of how to write code. Rather, Patrick Shyu who is the creator of the channel pours out his knowledge of years of experience as a former tech lead in Google.

He provides insight on issues junior developers face, from how to be more productive at work, to how one can handle stress at work. Plus he has a good sense of humour too.

8). Programming with Mosh

Programming with Mosh provides you with tutorials that will help you become the best coder you can be. His channel is fully loader with both frontend and back end languages, libraries and framework.

If you’re looking towards improving your coding skills either as a front end developer or backend developer, this is one of the channels I’ll recommend to you to follow

7). Tyler Moore

When it comes to Tyler Moore‘s channel, he focuses on teaching you how to build responsive and user friendly websites with the use of wordpress. This channel may be geared towards designers.

However if you are a freelance developer, there are times where you can use tools like wordpress to get the job done. Tyler Moore also has almost 31 million views on youtube, so he must be doing something right.

6). Wes Bos

Wes Bos provides you with tutorials that will improve your web development skills. One of my personal favorites is the javascript 30 on his playlist on youtube, where he built 30 different javascript projects.

He is definitely one to keep close tabs on.

5). Design Course

Owned by Gary Simon, this channel has been around for about 8 years. Design Course provides you with videos that will help elevate your UI/UX skills using tools like photoshop and Adobe XD.

3). Joshua Fluke

This channel is definitely not a fluke (no pun intended). When it comes to getting a job as a developer with no or limited experience, a lot of people find it hard to structure their CV in a way that word attract an employer.

That is why this channel is so important for beginners. It will help you on ways to structure your CV better and much more. Highly recommended from me.

2). freeCodeCamp

freeCodeCamp is an an open source community of busy people who learn to code and build projects for nonprofits. Their youtube channel is loaded with tutorials that take the shape of an online course, due to the length of the videos.

1). Traversy Media

A personal favorite of mine on this list. Brad Traversy(the owner) has done an excellent job on this channel. With 60 million views and counting on his channel, I can’t overemphasis how this channel has always helped me.

Traversy Media features the best online web development and programming tutorials for all of the latest web technologies including Node.js, Angular, React.js, PHP, Rails, HTML, CSS and much more.

Conclusion

Using Youtube videos as a means of learning can be distracting sometimes with the ads and thumbnails. So it is therefore important to dedicate a specified period of time to learning with focus.
